As a regular traveler who travels back and forth to Haidian, Beijing, I have stayed in many hotels along the West Third Ring Road. This time, after staying at Xiyuan Hotel Beijing for three consecutive days, I realized that this old star rated hotel, which has been rooted for decades, completely breaks away from the stereotype of "old-fashioned hotels" and incorporates relaxation, comfort, and attention to detail into every accommodation experience. After staying, I feel a little reluctant to leave even for the return trip.
Just finished the procedures and followed the staff to the room, passing through the hotel's own Chinese garden corridor. The wind wrapped in the fragrance of pine and bamboo in the courtyard blew over, instantly pulling me out of the noisy traffic on the West Third Ring Road. I specifically chose a courtyard view room and was amazed as soon as I opened the door. The 40 plus square meter space completely lacked the typical cramped and oppressive feeling of old hotels. The warm toned wooden decoration combined with soft diffuse reflection lighting, without glaring strong light, relieved me of the exhaustion of rushing as soon as I entered. The view by the window is facing the rockery and flowing water in the courtyard. Sitting on the soft chair by the window, sipping a cup of local Fu tea provided by the hotel for free, watching the koi swimming in the pond in the courtyard, even slowing down the time.
The most surprising thing is the bedding experience. The softness and hardness of the mattress are just right, not too soft to sink into my waist and make me feel sore, nor too hard to make me feel uncomfortable. There are two types of pillows to choose from: buckwheat and down pillows. I noted in advance that I wanted a harder buckwheat pillow, and when I entered the room, I saw that both pillows had been arranged according to my habits. I was busy running to the university all day, but when I got back to my room, I immediately fell asleep. The double-layer soundproof glass in the room exceeded expectations, and after closing the door, I couldn't hear any traffic from outside. Even the wind blowing on the leaves in the courtyard was just right, and I slept soundly all night. The next day, I didn't feel tired from my usual business trips.
The thoughtfulness in the details can be found everywhere. The independent dry wet separation bathroom is cleaned spotlessly, with no traces of scale found. The hot water comes out within 3 seconds of opening, and the water flow is large and stable. After a busy day, taking a hot shower directly eliminates most of the soreness and bloating all over the body. Beside the washbasin, not only are regular toiletries provided, but there are also additional moisturizers and mint mouthwash, so even travelers like me who often forget to bring skincare products don't have to rush out to buy them. Drinks and snacks in the mini bar are free of charge. Ice cola, normal temperature mineral water and local special Dim sum are all available. You don't have to go downstairs to the convenience store to get food when you are hungry late at night. The position of the desk is deliberately avoided from direct lighting, and it will not cause eye irritation when organizing data in front of the computer for a long time. The USB fast charging port reserved on the desktop is just right, so there is no need to squat on the ground to look for sockets. The computer, phone, and recording pen can be charged at the same time.
The hotel's public area experience is also fully online, and the 24-hour fitness center equipment is well maintained with no abnormal noise from old equipment. Even when busy at 9pm, you can take a half-hour run to stretch your shoulders and neck. The water quality of the indoor constant temperature swimming pool is clean and transparent. After swimming, taking a shower completely relaxes the whole person. The breakfast buffet in the morning has a wide range of items, from authentic old Beijing fermented sour milk made from ground mung bean wow gold coke rings to freshly made pancakes and fruits, western style bread and coffee. Even if you live for three consecutive days, you will not be tired of changing every day.
I used to think that old hotels only rely on their location to make a living, but after staying at Xiyuan Hotel Beijing, I realized that its excellence is never built on hardware, but on quietly taking care of every subtle need of its guests. Without the flashy gimmicks of internet famous hotels, it can allow you to let go of all the exhaustion of rushing from the moment you step into the courtyard. This is probably the most rare accommodation experience in the journey. Next time I come to Haidian, I will definitely choose this place as soon as possible.Show more
As a business person who travels back and forth to Haidian, Beijing year-round to attend academic conferences and connect with clients from universities and research institutes, I have stayed at Xiyuan Hotel Beijing multiple times. After comparing more than a dozen hotels in the same class along the West Third Ring Road, I finally decided to make this a fixed stop for business trips to Haidian. It does not have flashy internet celebrity facilities, but it has polished the most important aspects of business travel, such as location convenience, conference professionalism, and a sense of relaxation amidst hustle and bustle, to fully meet the core needs of Haidian's business travel.
The transportation advantage of the hotel directly solves the biggest pain point of business travel in Haidian. It takes only 5 minutes to walk to the Zoo subway station on Line 4, without having to take a detour or drag a suitcase full of conference materials and research samples. You can walk a few steps to enter the subway station. It only takes 20 minutes by car to get to Zhongguancun Core Industrial Park, Tsinghua University, Peking University and other high school campuses. Even during the morning rush hour, taking the West Third Ring Road auxiliary road can avoid the most congested sections, without having to rush out an hour in advance to catch up. It only takes 10 minutes by car to get to Beijing North Station, and catching the evening high-speed train ends the day's journey without wasting time in the rush hour traffic of West Third Ring Road. The hotel comes with thousands of free exclusive parking spaces, fully equipped with charging stations for new energy vehicles, and allows for self driving to transport large quantities of conference materials without having to search for paid parking spaces in the surrounding area. This saves more time and is more than enough to connect with two industry experts.
The check-in process was zero redundant throughout, and the front desk staff had long been familiar with the habits of attending business guests. They could complete all procedures in just two minutes. Upon learning that I had to attend an academic seminar in the morning the next day, they not only arranged a quiet room on the inner side of a high-rise building, but also specifically reminded me that I could book a free breakfast package service, so I didn't have to rush out before the restaurant opened. The 24-hour business center in the lobby is a must-have configuration, requiring the temporary printing of dozens of colored confidential conference papers and binding of formal project application forms. The entire process can be completed within the hotel without having to travel far to find an external printing shop, avoiding the risk of core scientific research data leakage. Even the express delivery of conference materials can be handled directly at the front desk, without having to carry large boxes and search for express delivery outlets everywhere, saving energy on coordination work.
The business king room I am staying in is completely tailored for office settings, without any unnecessary decorations occupying space. The 40 square meter area is clearly divided. The widened solid wood writing desk is spacious enough to simultaneously display project proposals and over a dozen industry documents. The desktop also features multiple sockets with USB fast charging ports, eliminating the need to search for power strips everywhere. Computers, phones, work tablets, and recording pens can be charged simultaneously. High speed WiFi is stable and never disconnects, even during a two-hour cross-border scientific research project video conference, there is no lag in both picture and sound. The softness and hardness of the bedding are just suitable for the tired state after a busy day. After running to a university laboratory all day, my legs are getting sore, and I can fall asleep just by tilting my head. The double-layer soundproof glass in the room has exceeded expectations, and after closing the door, there is no sound of traffic outside. Even if you work overtime until late at night to organize meeting minutes, you will not be disturbed by external noise. The independent wet dry separation bathroom has hot water available as soon as it's turned on. After a busy day, taking a hot shower can relieve most of the soreness and bloating all over the body.
The hotel's conference facilities are fully equipped with professionalism, covering various sizes of conference halls from small confidential seminar rooms with dozens of people to large academic lecture halls with thousands of people. The high-definition projection and simultaneous interpretation equipment in the conference rooms are fully equipped, and there is also a dedicated conference manager to follow up throughout the process, from venue layout to academic tea breaks, without having to worry about themselves. After a busy day's work, you can also take a two lap swim in the hotel's indoor swimming pool or take a walk in the built-in Chinese courtyard, instantly withdrawing from the tense work state.
After running business in Haidian for so many years and staying in many hotels with higher positioning, I finally chose Xiyuan Hotel Beijing as my first choice. It has no inflated premium, every detail is helping business people save time and enhance the conference experience, which is probably the most reliable choice on the journey. Next time I come to Beijing to attend an industry academic conference, I will definitely lock up this hotel directly.Show more
